Every Child Matters
The aim of “Every Child Matters: Change for Children” is for every child from birth to age 18 - and whatever their background or their circumstances - to have the support they need to:
There are two sets of targets that are especially relevant to improving outcomes for looked after children.
Working closely with Local Authorities to ensure that our policies and practices support the stability of placements for looked after children, in accordance with the government target for 2008, which is that 80% of children under 16 who have been looked after for 2.5 or more years should have been living in the same placement for at least 2 years, or are placed for adoption.
Improving the educational support available to those in our care by narrowing the gap between the educational achievement of looked after children and their peers.
These targets are further supported by the October 2006 Green Paper “Care Matters: Transforming the Lives of Children and Young People in Care”. Clifford House intend to embrace the proposals contained within this document and work in full partnership with our purchasers to make sure that the children we share responsibility for looking after achieve the best possible outcomes through imaginative care planning and excellent communication between those involved in that process.
