The Malvern Spring Gardening Show

The Larches School is our Independent school for up to 20 young people with emotional, social and behavioural problems aged between 11 - 16 years.

Back in September 2010 the Three Counties Agricultural Society encouraged us to design and build a garden for the 2011 show themed around the ‘United Nations Year of Chemistry’.

Our Head teacher encouraged us to come up with ideas and in ICT, PSHE, Science and Humanities we researched different themes including weird and wonderful plants, water, new technologies and what sustainability was about. We drew and made ‘mood boards’ of ideas and then we were visited by a professional designer who drew up a great plan using all our ideas.

We then grew plants, went on visits to learn about how commercial nurseries work and how alternative energy is used.
