educational resourcesClifford House Educational Resources

We actively demonstrate education is valued throughout our organisation by ensuring that:
  • Young people are reminded frequently of the benefits of education.
  • The staff are familiar with the educational histories and needs of the young people.
  • Each young person has a detailed education history and record of educational needs.
  • There is a clear written plan for addressing the educational needs of each young person.
  • The manager of the home or their key worker is consulted when each young person's individual education plan is being drawn up.
  • Specialist tuition is provided for young people who do not attend either our own school or mainstream school.
  • There are regular meetings with the school where the young people are able to review their progress.
  • Young people's achievements are recognised in a manner acceptable to them.
  • Records of achievement show progress towards targets / goals.
  • There is an identified member of staff with responsibility for helping to secure out of school education for young people who have been excluded.
  • Parents and other significant adults are encouraged to take an interest in, and to promote, the education of the young person.
  • Young people are encouraged to use local libraries.
  • Young people are encouraged to leave for school in good time and where they are not escorted, an identified member of staff regularly liaises with the school to check that lateness does not develop as an issue.
  • The young person's key worker actively checks to see that young people have all equipment necessary to comply fully with the requirements of the National Curriculum. At each resource the young people have access to a computer and appropriate educational resources.

All young people have in their room appropriate facilities that can, following a risk assessment, be used for private study. In resources where it is not appropriate for a young person to have unsupervised study time, arrangements are made for another identified area to be used for private study.
